Other Australian suppliers of Cargo Bikes

We would like to encourage the use of "Bakfiets" which is a Dutch word meaning "Boxbikes", and have therefore listed all the suppliers in Australia that offer such a bicycle. With more of these bikes on the road, we can help increase the use of bikes as a serious alternative to the car for many journeys.

You can buy 2-wheeled and 3-wheeled versions of the Cargo Bike. Tricycles have the advantage of being able to park them without needing a centre stand but in our experience don't ride and handle as well as 2-wheeled cargo bikes. It's great that Australian cyclists now have many options!

Cargo Cycles
Ballarat based Cargo Cycles supplies affordable cargo bikes made in China based on the Dutch made "Bakfiets". These bikes feature wooden front boxes like the original Dutch versions. A good option for those not willing to pay $3000+ for higher quality European made models.

Countdown Cargo Bikes
Melbourne based Countdown Cargo Bikes import 3-wheeled cargo bikes. These bikes are "affordable" versions of the Christiania bikes and are therefore a less premium version of the European made 3-wheelers.

Nicebox Workcycles
Nicebox Workcycles is a Melbourne-based business specialising in Dutch designed and manufactured cargo bicycles. Because they are Dutch made and of high quality, these bikes are higher priced than the similar looking Cargo Cycles.

PSBikes
The 3-wheeled Danish Christiania bikes are imported by Melbourne based PSBikes. These bikes are high quality and therefore cost more than the similar looking Countdown Cargo Bike.
